In 1996, on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of psychoanalysis (as the term is recorded to have been first used in 1896), Open Books published all of Freud's writings in a 17-volume edition, an exhaustive collection beyond compare in Korea.

The making of the Freud centenary collection was a one of a kind project involving 17 translators, recognized Freud pundits and specialists in psychoanalysis, science and philosophy.

The Freud Complete collection was reedited and redesigned in 15 volumes in 2003.

5 volumes in the collection have been reprinted more than 20 times, and Introduction to Psychoanalysis and The Interpretation of Dreams were reprinted 34 times and 33 times respectively. Open Books' edition of the latter was selected in 1999 as one of the 12 "masterworks that every school student should read" and made it to the Jungang Daily list of masterpieces of the 20th Century. In 1999 again, Open Books was awarded the Baeksang Prize by the Hankook Daily for the whole collection.
